Jul 20, 2006 · In other cars , I just disconnected the pressure switch connector and shorted connections until I heard the a/c compressor clutch relay kick in and that fooled the system into operation and you then immediately start charging up the system...once you have some "freon' in the line the connector can go back on and you should be able to finish charging. Normally, you can start in gear if the clutch is pulled in. There is a switch on the clutch handle that looks after this. Could be out of adjustment, dirty, no good, etc. Give it a looksee.
